Lutein is called a carotenoid vitamin. It’s related to beta-carotene and Vitamin A. It is one of two major carotenoids found as a colour pigment in the human eye and protects the eye tissues from sunlight damage. It’s used to prevent eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration, cataracts and retinitis pigmentosa.
